John: A few hours after Bobbie boarded her train to return to Pasadena, we welcomed Fred, Margaret, and Ernest Salazar and Elizabeth (Salazar) Campos to Shell Beach. The plan was that the six of us would visit Friday afternoon and evening and then be joined by nephew Jeff Salazar and his (finance) Sandra for Saturday and Sunday.
True to the plan, Liz, Ernie, and their parents arrived raring to go. Hardly had everyone disembarked when Fred took off for the beach, with all his children talking among themselves and pursuing him.
For dinner Friday we drove to Morro Bay to eat where Pat's family could see the site of many earlier happy times together. We ate at AAASEASIDE SOMETHING.
Given our proximity to Arroyo Grande, Saturday morning we took advantage of the opporunity to visit with Auntie Esther, a couple of cousins, and two first cousins once removed. Esther, Margaret's sister-in-law, welcomed us into her lovely home east of Arroyo Grande (see view down Deer Canyon into Corbett Canyon) and there was a lots of sharing of photos, discussion of times gone by, clarification of relationships, and reporting of people's current activities. The image of Auntie Esther and Grandma is linked to a larger photo showing cousin Jayne, Esther, Grandma, Liz, and Grandpa. Auntie Esther and her family had previously welcomed Pat and me to their home in the SF Bay area 30-some years ago when Pat and I took a 10-week road trip around the country in our green International Harvester panel truck (we called it a "vacanation"). It was good to see them again.
Saturday afternoon Jeff and Sandra arrived and joined in the frivolity.
For dinner Saturday Pat made chilli beans and I grilled burgers. Accompanied by the usual fixin's, we had a feast in the backyard at the Laughing Buddha House.
